Jackson, Miss. (September 22, 2026) – Mississippi-based non-profit End It For Good is expanding its work with a new statewide program focused not only on people struggling with opioid use but on the family members supporting them. Pre-registration opens today for families across Mississippi who are affected by substance use disorder.

“As a mother who has supported her son through many years of struggle,” said Christi Berrong-Barber, “I often felt alone. We spend a lot of time talking about how to help the person struggling, but we don’t always recognize that their family needs support, too. I believe this program will help families feel less alone and give them practical tools to navigate the challenges of substance use disorder.”

The first three online skills training modules will launch by mid-November. Nine additional modules and support group meetings will be available in early 2027. The program will utilize a custom curriculum based on Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), a framework grounded in behavioral science.

The health-centered initiative is designed to provide practical guidance, evidence-based skills training, and peer connection for families across Mississippi. The program’s first-year goal is to reach 200 family members through 10 support groups, with plans to expand by late 2027.

“The program will equip family members with tools including how to reinforce healthy behavior, reduce reinforcement of substance use, utilize strategic communication, and improve family wellbeing,” said Family Support Services Director, Michelle Grawe.

The program will serve all Mississippi counties through remote and in-person training and support group services. In-person support groups will serve the Jackson metro area, the Mississippi coastal counties, and other affected areas. Residents in other parts of the state, as well as those for whom attending an in-person meeting is challenging, will have the opportunity to join fully remote support groups.
